Side effect tracker for your first 3 months

Editorially reviewed on October 29, 2026. [TODO: medical reviewer]

Quick answer

Most pill side effects settle within about 3 months. This 10-second daily log helps you see whether yours are settling, and turns your notes into a one-page "Should I switch?" summary for your doctor. Weight tracking is off by default.

Your answers stay on this device.

How it works

Each day, tap how much bleeding you had, how bad any headache, nausea, breast tenderness or acne was, your mood and your sex drive. The tracker shows the last 7 days and builds a PDF with your full log and questions for your doctor, including same-formula and different-formula alternatives.

Spotting, sore breasts, nausea and mood changes are common in the first months and usually settle.[src] Some symptoms are not side effects to wait out: a severe headache with vision changes, chest pain, a painful swollen leg or thoughts of self-harm need urgent care.

Frequently asked questions

How long do pill side effects last?

Most settle within about 3 months. If they do not, or they bother you a lot, talk to your doctor about switching formula.

Why is weight off by default?

Trials have not found a large weight effect from combined pills, and daily weighing tends to cause worry rather than answers. You can switch it on if you want it.

This guide is for information. Talk to a doctor before starting, stopping or switching birth control.
