Lizelle is the closest copy of Yaz on Philippine shelves: same drospirenone (A progestin used in Yaz, Yasmin and their same-formula brands.) and ethinylestradiol doses, same 28-tablet pack with 24 hormone tablets and 4 inactive ones. Watsons listed it at ₱815.[src] Yaz, the Bayer original, starts at ₱889.

The third brand with this formula, Ermina, was cheaper still at ₱720, but it is listed as a 24-tablet pack, so its layout may differ from Lizelle's. If you want the exact Yaz pack shape at a lower price, Lizelle is the match. Our research does not name Lizelle's maker.

How to take Lizelle

24 hormone tablets4 inactive tablets

Take one tablet a day at about the same time: 24 hormone tablets, then 4 inactive tablets, then start the next pack the next day with no gap. Your withdrawal bleed (The bleed during the inactive or break days of a pill pack. It is not a true period.) usually comes during the inactive days and is often light. As a 20 mcg pill, missing 2 hormone tablets in a row already counts as the stricter case.[src]

When to start: WHO says a combined pill can start within the first 5 days of your period with no extra protection, or any other day if you are reasonably sure you are not pregnant, with condoms for the first 7 days.[src] Switching from Yaz? Ask your pharmacist how to time it so there is no gap.

If you miss a Lizelle pill

Lizelle is a low-dose (20 mcg) combined pill, so the stricter rule applies sooner. Missing 1 hormone pill: take it as soon as you remember and carry on. Missing 2 or more in a row: take one now, use condoms for 7 days, and if it happened in the last hormone week, skip the inactive pills and start a new pack.

If you had sex in the last 5 days and missed pills, talk to a doctor today about emergency options. If unsure, talk to a doctor or pharmacist.

Lizelle side effects and what Filipinas worry about

Early spotting, sore breasts, nausea, headaches and mood changes can happen in the first 3 months and usually settle.[src] Light or skipped bleeds are common on low-dose pills. Like all combined pills, Lizelle carries a small clot risk and is not for smokers 35 and over or people with migraine with aura.[src]

Nakakataba ba ang Lizelle?

No large effect, per a Cochrane review of placebo-controlled trials of combined pills,[src] and the NHS says there is no evidence the pill causes weight gain.[src]

Delay ng mens habang nag-pi-pills?No period during the placebo week?

Light or missed withdrawal bleeds are common on the pill, especially low-dose pills like Yaz. If you took your pills correctly, pregnancy is unlikely, and a pregnancy test settles it. Start your next pack on schedule.

Delikado ba ang pills? Are pills dangerous? What about blood clots?

The risk of a blood clot on the combined pill is real but small. Combined pills are not suitable for smokers 35 and over, people with migraine with aura, a past clot, high blood pressure and some other conditions. Chest pain, leg swelling or sudden breathlessness are emergencies.

The 24/4 regimen and lighter bleeds

Lizelle keeps the Yaz design: 24 hormone days and 4 inactive days instead of the usual 21 and 7. The shorter hormone-free stretch is one reason bleeds are often lighter or shorter, and sometimes barely there. That is common on low-dose pills and not a sign the pill failed if you took it correctly.[src] Our late period checker helps if you are unsure.

Lizelle FAQ

Is Lizelle the same as Yaz?

Yes. Same drospirenone 3 mg + ethinylestradiol 20 mcg and the same 24 plus 4 pack. Lizelle costs from ₱815 and Yaz from ₱889 at the pharmacies we checked.

Lizelle or Ermina: which is closer to Yaz?

Both have the same formula. Lizelle matches Yaz's 28-tablet 24 plus 4 pack. Ermina is listed as 24 tablets, so check its leaflet for how the break works.

Walang regla sa inactive pills ng Lizelle. Normal ba?

Oo, karaniwan ang mahina o walang regla sa low-dose pills. Kung tama ang pag-inom mo ng hormone tablets, maliit ang tsansa na buntis ka. Mag-pregnancy test kung nag-aalala ka.

What if I miss 2 Lizelle pills?

As a 20 mcg pill, 2 missed in a row is the stricter case: take one now, use condoms for 7 days, and if it was in the last hormone week, skip the inactive tablets and start a new pack. If you had sex in the last 5 days, talk to a doctor today.

Do I need a prescription for Lizelle?

Yes. Lizelle is a prescription medicine in the Philippines and Watsons lists it as prescription required.

This guide is for information. Talk to a doctor before starting, stopping or switching birth control.
