The difference, explained
Lizelle is a lower-priced brand of the Yaz formula. The hormone tablets contain the same active ingredients at the same dose and the pack follows the same 24 plus 4 regimen, so you take it exactly the same way. A third brand, Ermina, also has this formula; check its leaflet for its pack layout.
Everything that applies to Yaz applies to Lizelle: the stricter 20 mcg missed-pill rule (2 or more missed means condoms for 7 days),[src] the tendency to lighter bleeds, and the same list of people who should not take combined pills, such as smokers 35 and over and people with migraine with aura.[src]
The real difference is price, which adds up over 13 packs a year. If your prescription names the generic (drospirenone + ethinylestradiol), the pharmacist can usually dispense either. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if switching is right for you.
